It’s been some weeks that I have not shared any post on this blog. I was busy with some stuff. I decided to share a post on the Bengali traditional food menu on the occasion of Ashwin Sankranti. But I know many days passed after the Ashwin Sankranti and I forgot to share it with you. Ashwin Sankranti means the last day of Ashwin month. It is was followed by many Bengali families. An amazing morning starts with bread pakoda with green chutney
It is an amazing morning in every sense. It is the 15th day of August. So you can understand that it is a special day for every Indian. We celebrate Independence day today. But for common people, it is a day when they participate in the national flag hoisting ceremony at their locality, school, office or any organization. They try to remember the sacrifice of our freedom fighters. School going kids expect samosa, jalebi, laddu after the ceremony at school. At the same time, people enjoy a holiday with their family. Though this year, it is Sunday, so people lost the benefit of a national Holiday. If it would happen 2 years ago, then people would feel very sad. But now this year, people are not sad because of this pandemic situation due to COVID19. People spent so many days, months at home. So nobody is feeling sad due to the Independence day celebration on Sunday. Most of them definitely celebrate the day their own way. Nag Panchami special food menu idea for the lunch
Nag Panchami is a popular festival in some parts of the country. This is the day when Hindu people worship the snake as a deity. Many worshippers draw pictures of snakes on the wall of their houses. Many people bring an idol of snake made with silver, wood, clay etc. There are many people who worship real snakes on this day. People search for snake pit days in their locality prior to the festival. Then they offer milk, banana, flowers, lamps etc on the day of nag Panchami. Worshippers do not eat anything till they complete all rituals. But after they performing all rituals and break the fast or vrat. Rath dekha kola becha special food menu
This was another year of weird rath yatra festival. Very fewer rathas were on the street. That too possibly due to kids forced their parents to pull rath on the road. Last year was the same too. Everybody expected that this year would be normal and people can participate in the celebration. But this year also, there is no rath on the road. People did neither participate in the fair nor pull the rope of the rath of lord jagannath, Balaram & Subhadra. What people did is they ate papad, pakoda & sweets at home. Many people bought pakodas & papad from the roadside stall. It was like rath dekha kola becha. They had a good evening snack as well as they celebrated the day.
