Snacks are basically light meals what people love to have in between the period of two proper meals when people feel hungry but still not a right time to consume something heavy. Even when people travel they prefer to have such snacks (light meals) because proper meal may be not available at every place. So there are always a lot of traditional snacks in every cuisine. Chop/cutlet & Singara

These are most popular Bengali snacks. Most people love to have those with tea in the evening. Those are very easily available from sweets shops or other exclusive shops for such fried items. Cutlets are mostly non-vegetarian items but there are always some sellers who offer vegetarian cutlets too. Chop & singara are two different Bengali snacks. Chops are made with spicy vegetables or meat coated with egg & bread crumbs and deep fried in oil. Singara is known as samosa in North India & some other parts of India. It is normally potato filled wheat flour made popular & very common evening snack in Bengal.

Ghugni

Another popular & very common street food in Bengal. People love to enjoy this food as an evening snack. Sun-dried green peas are used to make this special Bengali snack. This is really very spicy & tasty. Tamarind water & roasted spices are added to make this more mouthwatering. Mostly street food vendors use to sell this wonderful Bengali snack. Some people even prefer to have this with bread or roti (Indian bread) too.

Ghoti gorom

This is truly one of the most traditional Bengali snacks. You can see many ghoti gorom sellers are roaming throughout this state to sell this snack at doorstep. You can see those sellers at a market place, parks and near school/colleges. Chanachoor (namkeen), finely chopped onion and small pieces of aamda/aamra (jungly aam or spondias pinnata) are added here. This is very easy to make snack what you can easily make at home. This is mostly available at Rs 5 or 10 only.

Jhal muri

Jhal muri is another very special tradition snack of Bengal. This is popular in both West Bengal and Bangladesh, also very delicious & easy to make snack. Muri (murmura/puffed rice), boiled potato, tomato, cucumber and some spices are used to make this awesome evening snack. Well, it is not only an evening snack but also people love to eat this whenever they are travelling & feel hungry. Jhalmuri snack sellers can easily be seen in local train, railway platform, marketplace or even near school & colleges.

Phuchka

Everybody like this awesome snack. From eight years old to eighty years old everybody can enjoy this. One of the most popular & delicious Bengali snacks. There will be only a few unfortunate people who actually do not like this phuchka and keep themselves away from the taste of phuchka.
