Did you ever try this masala chai (tea) with soy milk? I think a few of you definitely tried soy milk tea. But when it comes to masala chai then most people are probably clueless, haha. Masala chai is very popular in India. So if you are Indian or you have visited India then you certainly know this awesome aromatic tea. Masala means a mixture of a few spices and chai means tea. So it is actually spicy tea. But here I have a twist because no animal milk is added to this spicy tea. This aromatic spicy tea is prepared with soy milk.
I love soy milk and drink a lot of soy milk. But I had never tried soy milk because nowadays I mostly prefer black tea or red tea. That means I normally do not add milk in my tea. Instead of milk I usually prefer lemon juice & black salt in red tea.
But I used to drink whole milk masala tea when I was in Delhi. It was super rich masala tea. Most popular tea stalls in Delhi actually use only milk (without water) to make such tea. Not only that people add many spices, sugar & tea to milk and boil for several minutes till it was not prepared. That type of masala tea was very special. I used to drink such tea from a tea stall at Narela, Delhi.
But here in Kolkata people actually do not prefer such type of super-rich & full milk tea. Nowadays even people do not prefer milk in their tea. It may be due to health issue & lifestyle because too much milk tea may create problems like acidity & indigestion.
So when I made soy milk second time at home then I decided to make masala tea with soy milk. Yes, it is homemade vegan milk tea. Surprisingly, it was equally flavorful & aromatic masala chai. I heard about this type of soy milk based tea but never tasted. So I tried this Indian style masala chai (tea) with soy milk. The best part is that it is plant-based drink (but it is said as vegan milk) so it does not have lactose like animal-based milk. So people who have the problem in lactose digestion can easily try this soy milk tea with spices & herbs.
I believe it won’t create such problems like acidity & indigestion due to animal milk. Atleast I did not face such an issue.
