Gatte chili curry with mashed potatoes, a quick & delicious meal

Ingredients
  • For gatte preparation
  • Besan/chickpea flour - ¾ cup
  • Sattu / roasted chickpea flour - ¼ cup
  • Maida / all purpose wheat flour - 1 tbsp
  • Ajwain / carom - 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - as needed
  • Water - enough to make dough and boil
  • For curry preparation
  • Capsicum - 1 small size
  • Ginger / adrak paste - 3 tsp
  • Garlic / lahsun paste - 1.5 tsp
  • Onion / pyaz - 2 medium size (paste)
  • Tomato puree - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Green chilies - 2-3 (chopped)
  • Black pepper / kali mirch - 1 tsp (powder)
  • Turmeric / haldi powder - 2 tsp
  • Oil - 1.5 tbsp
  • Water - as needed
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Potaoes - 2 medium size
  • Green chilies - 2 (chopped)
  • Aamchoor / dry mago powder -2 tsp
  • Salt - as needed
Instructions
  1. For gatte preparation
  2. Mix all ingredients for gatte and make perfect dough by kneading, (do not add too much water)
  3. Make small ball with that dough
  4. Boil water in a large bowl and add those small balls. Boil for 4-5 mins
  5. Take all boiled flour balls in a bowl and fry all with oil in a wok or skillet
  6. For chili curry preparation
  7. Heat oil in a cooking pan and add ginger garlic paste, onion paste, salt, all spices (turmeric, coriander, red chilli, black pepper powder) and tomato puree one by one and cook
  8. Add chopped capsicum pieces in that gravy
  9. When gravy will release oil then add fried gatte and fry for another 2-3 mins and add water
  10. Let it start boiling, switch off the flame when gravy reaches desired quantity
  11. Take gatte chili curry in a plate and served with mashed potatoes
Notes
Mix mashed potatoes, green chilies, aam choor & salt to make delicious mashed potatoes to serve with gatte chili curry
