Tadka dal recipe - Bengali style

- Whole moong dal – 1 cup
- Chana dal / Bengal gram – ½ cup
- Red kidney beans / rajma – 1 tbsp
- Tomatoes – 2 large size (chopped)
- Onion – 2 medium size (finely chopped)
- Ginger paste – 2 tsp
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp (4-5 cloves)
- Cumin seeds powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric poder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Green chilies – 2 (chopped)
- Salt – according to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – chopped (for garnishing)
- Fresh cream – 2 tsp (for garnishing) – optional
- Ghee – 2 tsp
- Soak red kidney beans in water for 6 hours
- Soak whole moong dal & chana dal in water for 2 hours
- Heat a pan and add oil
- Now add chopped onion and fry for 3 minutes and add ginger garlic paste too
- Add all spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder) & green chilies
- Add finely chopped tomatoes in other spices
- Add all lentils and mix well and add salt according to taste
- Add 3 cup water (add more water iff needed) and mix well
- Cover the cooking pot and cook in low flame for 10-12 minutes
- Add garam masala & ghee and cook well till gravy becomes thicker
- Switch off flame and garnish with coriander leaves & fresh cream
- Serve hot
