Dahi vada

Very popular south Indian food but very popular across India. It is preferred as breakfast item as well as snacks too.
Ingredients
  • Urad dal – 100 gm
  • Dahi / curd – 200 gm
  • Roasted coriander powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Red mirch /chili powder – 1.5 tsp
  • Salt – according to taste
  • Sugar powder – 2 tsp
  • Water – 1 cup
Instructions
  1. Let urad dal soak in water for 2 hours (overnight) and blend in mixer grinder to make paste and add 2 tsp of curd / dahi and leave that paste for over night
  2. Nextday add baking powder and salt in paste
  3. Heat a pan and add sunflower oil
  4. Make a small ball of dal paste and fry in oil
  5. Immerse dal vada in water for 10 minutes & let all dal vada to cool and press them both sides with your hands and make flat shaped vada
  6. Now in a bowl add curd, salt, a few spices (coriander powder, cumin powder & red chili powder) and water (1 tbsp). Now mix those spices with curd
  7. Now take 3-4 vada on a plate and spread curd (with masala) over vada
  8. Now mix all residual spices and spread over that plate according to taste
