We keep perishable items in refrigerator. But most of the times we treat it as a shelf or safe place to store things. There are so many items what we store in refrigerator. We keep many unnecessary items in fridge to protect those from ants and other insects too. We all store honey inside refrigerator to protect it from ants’ attack. Same thing we do for raw bread too. If you buy a fresh bread from shop then it can be kept at normal temperature for two or three days but we want to keep safe bread from ants and other insects that is why we keep it there.

5 Things what you should not store in refrigerator
Potatoes :
Potatoes are very common root vegetable and widely used in different dishes. Potatoes are important source of starch. It does not required to store in refrigerator. You can keep it at normal temperature for many weeks. If you keep it in refrigerator for longer period then its taste will be bad.
Onions :
Onions has strong odor and that odor spreads easily and quickly within a closed area. You can keep onions at normal temperature & dry place for couples of weeks. So it is not needed to store in refrigerator and you should try to keep it away from other vegetables.
Garlic :
Garlic also has strong odor and you should keep it at dry place & normal temperature too. It will get soften once you keep it in fridge for few days. So never store it in refrigerator by mistake and always try to keep at a place where air is circulating properly.
Bananas :
Bananas are source of instant energy. Green bananas or bananas what are not in ripe state should not keep in fridge as it will slow down ripening process. It is better to store such bananas (not in ripe state) at normal temperature and also store at a dry place to complete ripening process.
Tomatoes :
If you want to have it for salad then do not store it in refrigerator. Once you refrigerated it then its taste will start being worsen. Otherwise you can keep it in fridge to stop ripening and if it is not at ripe state then you should keep it at normal temperature.

This list is not exhaustive. There are so many other things what you should not keep in refrigerator. These are hot sauce, bread, honey, peanut butter, oils and many more. It may not have any adverse affect always if you store those in fridge but sometime we store such items what are not needed to do refrigerated.
